Courage
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
― Winston S. Churchill
Today can feel so absolute, and it should because today is all we have. It’s said that regretting the past and worrying about the future only makes your tomorrow another day to regret.
So when Prime Minister Churchill reminded us that our “wins” are fleeting and our “losses” just the same, he placed before us a remedy for regret. What we attempt to do on a daily basis can always be looked upon with favor when we move forward with courage.
A Leader will realize that the public’s judgment will often be rooted beyond the leader’s control- you can’t please everyone. So a leader acting on behalf of the public, acts knowing they may get it wrong. But if a leader believes their actions are always correct, they have not in fact acted courageously and they have not led at all, because the only critic that matters is they them self.
I encourage you then to be a leader, to accept that your actions may be seen either positively or negatively and, to move forward with the courage to remedy your faults, and downplay your successes so that others may shine. Be bold to lift up others and do what counts, be courageous.
