Winner
But we know, that into every life a little rain must fall- right? How’s that for cliché? And it’s true, things get messy. But what’s funny is that I can convince myself that ALL I ever experience are those minutes where the seed falls onto a hard path, rocks, or weeds- the good soil is something I think has been missing from my life- always.
A lot of us are that way. Or, because we don’t win the lottery, we never win anything. (What about all those Cracker Jack tops we used to get?) Somehow, our attention goes to the unpleasant days rather than focusing on the wins!
Hmmmm I wonder why?
I think misplaced or forced humility has ruined our chances to celebrate wins in our life. You’ve seen a person beg off attention when they win a contest or are told how good they are at some skill. I’m willing to bet many of us act in that fashion. The problem with that is that then our victories- our moments of “good soil” are wasted on peer pressure.
I’m here to tell you to celebrate victories. Celebrate accomplishments! Accept that you- yes you, are capable and talented and a winner! Everybody loves a winner, and so should you when you are that person.
I know this seems to be far off the original scripture quoted. So going back to the ‘parable of the sower’… It’s original intent was to describe that no matter how much someone goes out spreading the good news, it may have absolutely no helpful impact, because it’s all dependent on the hearer. If I am hearing the good news, but I am just not able, ready, or willing to hear it and take it seriously the good news might as well be sounds of traffic going by- it cannot change my life.
The secret is to plan ahead for the hearing. EXPECT that you will hear good news, that you will be ready to make a change in life, that nearly anything heard or observed or given you can bring you the joy of Jesus’ promise.
It’s about our willingness- that’s how. So I pray, that you pray- for willingness, all the days of your life. Above all things, pray that you will be willing to be on the receiving end of good news, that your soil may be germination’s best friend. And when the seed comes your way, there is only the work of being grateful to follow.
You. Are. A. Winner! Willingness will make you one, with God being your gardener.
